Early Childhood Education

The foundation for lifelong learning is built in the early years.

For children between 3 and 6, play, curiosity, and guided learning shape cognitive, emotional, and social growth. Strengthening Early Childhood Education ensures that every child, regardless of background, gets a strong start in life.

Practitioners who understand the ground.

At Anugraha, we have a dedicated team of educators, trainers, and community practitioners who specialise in designing and delivering impactful ECE programmes. Over the years, this team has worked with state agencies, international partners, and local communities to build capacity, train educators, and enrich classroom practices.

What we aim to deliver

01

Multi-Tier Structured Curriculum

A four-level learning framework — from Anganwadi Worker activity handbooks to intermediate Master Trainer modules — covering ECE concepts aligned with the Aakar curriculum and the National ECE Framework.

02

Training for Anganwadi Supervisors & Workers

Hands-on, activity-based training covering scientific ECE principles, child development domains — physical, cognitive, language, and creativity — teaching aids, classroom management, and learning outcomes for children aged 3–6.

03

Play-Based Pedagogy & TLM Support

Anganwadi Centres equipped with age-appropriate Teaching Learning Material — flashcards, puzzles, blocks, books, and play equipment — enabling workers to conduct structured, engaging, child-centred learning sessions.

04

Parent Engagement & Community Awareness

Structured parent meetings and community events to build the home–centre connection, sensitising families to the importance of early learning and involving them as active partners in their children's development.

05

Monitoring, Mentoring & Impact Assessment

Ongoing field visits, baseline and endline assessments using standardised tools, and mentoring support to track improvement, ensure quality, and guide further training needs.

Initiatives that shaped early learning

Two landmark partnerships that demonstrated how focused training and community engagement can measurably improve ECE quality at scale.

Aakar ECE Training Programme

A state-wide initiative that built a Government Master Trainer cadre for Maharashtra's Anganwadi network, grounded in the Aakar curriculum developed with UNICEF's support and MSCERT.

The programme was designed as a cascading training model: Anugraha prepared Master Trainers who then trained ICDS Supervisors across districts, who in turn trained Anganwadi Workers in their beats — creating a scalable, in-house pipeline of ECE knowledge across Maharashtra.

The Aakar curriculum, rooted in Montessori principles of freedom, self-dependence, and self-learning, focused on language development, pre-reading, emergent writing, pre-maths skills, scientific temperament, and aesthetic sense. A survey conducted across 55 AWCs confirmed significant improvements in ECE quality following the training.
